Aging Ithacans Project & Exhibition

Aging Ithacans is an ethnographic project that highlights the experiences of elders in Tompkins County. It features interviews in conjunction with portraits, highlighting the joy and wisdom that comes with aging. It will focus on amplifying the experiences of a diverse group of individuals, particularly in race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, etc. This body of work will entail between 11 life stories for a 3-month exhibition to be featured at Lifelong in January.

I am interested in analyzing and depicting how life experiences make their mark on our bodies as we age.

This program is made possible in full with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant program from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of the office of the Governor and NYS Legislature, administered by the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County. Additional thanks to Lifelong, and McGraw House for supporting this project and making it possible.

Reception will be on January 17th, 2025 and it will be in exhibition until March. There will be food and music by Hannah Tooms!
